The Ultimate RV Hack: Table, Desk & Bar Combo

We recently removed our RV dinette and transformed the space into a custom-built combo unit that functions as a table, work desk, and bar—all in one! This upgrade has been a game changer, combining style with smart functionality. Not only does it free up valuable floor space, but it also adds a ton of extra storage, making the entire area feel more open and organized. Whether we’re eating, working remotely, or winding down with a drink, this multi-purpose setup gives us everything we need without sacrificing comfort or efficiency. It’s the ultimate RV space-saver!

Products used are listed at the bottom of this post.

This is what the dinette looked like when we purchased our Heartland Mallard travel trailer. It provided storage under the benches but other than that it wasn't practical for our needs. The folding table also looked cheap and not built in.

AFTER - Since it is only my husband and I and we work when we travel, we wanted a space that would accommodate working, eating and hold bar items along with more storage. We started out with 2 - 4 leg chairs but when you would sit in them, the back legs would go off the edge of the slide out. We replaced them with these solid base stools and they are perfect. They swivel so they don't even have to move the stools forward or backward to get out. These stools were a game changer and they don't move when traveling.

The desk/table top lifts up for deep storage of kitchen items as well as each side section. We store our laptops and computer monitors in the side cabinets. My husband also extended the power outlet from the wall to the desk/table top so we could access the outlets easily from the top when it is closed.

We added dividers on one side of the cabinet at the bottom to hold tall bottles so they are protected when traveling. We left the other side open so we could store water bottles or cases of drinks.

We incorporated this pull out drawer to hold bar items and glasses. This is a great place for actual glassware if you want to travel with it.
